Kelly Elise Smith
Kelly Elise Smith is a fifth year student at the University of Kansas School of Music earning a Bachelor's of Music degree in Vocal Performance. Ms. Smith studies voice with Dr. Genaro Mendez, and has coached privately with world renowned pianist and coach, John Wustman, Metropolitan Opera baritone, Nathan Gunn, and Vicki Werner Smith of Webster University. Ms. Smith is the recipient of the Irene Peabody Scholarship at the University of Kansas, and has won the Kansas City district NATS competition in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Ms. Smith has been heard singing the role of "Nella" in the University of Kansas Opera Theatre's production of Gianni Schicchi and "Kate Pinkerton" and the "Cousin" in Kansas Concert Opera's performance of Madama Butterfly. This season, she is delighted to be singing the "Second Lady" with Kansas Concert Opera and can also be seen in KU Opera Theatre's production of The Rake's Progress this spring.
